Software to Help You Prepare and File Your Own Tax Returns

These services are provided through the Free File Alliance, a nonprofit coalition that partners with the IRS to offer several tax software options.

Please review the information below to see if you are eligible to use one of these software options.

Each button will take you to a designated webpage where you will be asked to supply information to begin a secure account with the particular service provider.

Option 1: TurboTax
Use TurboTax to file a free federal and state return if:

  • Your
    Adjusted Gross IncomeYour wages, dividends, capital gains, business income, retirement distributions plus other income less adjustments such as educator expenses, student loan
    interest, alimony payments or contributions to a retirement account.
    is $36,000 or less, OR
  • You are eligible for the
    Earned Income Tax CreditA tax credit for low- to moderate-income working individuals and couples,
    particularly those with children.

  • You are an active duty member of the military with
    Adjusted Gross IncomeYour wages, dividends, capital gains, business income, retirement distributions plus other income less adjustments such as educator expenses, student loan
    interest, alimony payments or contributions to a retirement account.
    of $69,000 or less

Option 2: OnLine Taxes
Use OnLine Taxes to file a free federal and state return if:

  • Your
    Adjusted Gross IncomeYour wages, dividends, capital gains, business income, retirement distributions plus other income less adjustments such as educator expenses, student loan
    interest, alimony payments or contributions to a retirement account.
    is between $14,000 and $69,000, OR
  • You are an active duty member of the military with

    interest, alimony payments or contributions to a retirement account.
    of $69,000 or less
